How to Get Rid Of Head Lice With Essential Oils

Head lice is a condition in which tiny parasites develop in the hair of children and occasionally adults. They suck the blood of their host and cause extreme itching of the scalp. Essential oil blends are effective for treating this unpleasant condition. Rosemary and eucalyptus essential oils purify and work well on skin infections, while lavender and rose geranium are antiseptic and treat insect bites. Try this essential oils blend to rid yourself of these pesky parasites.

Things You'll Need

• Lavender essential oil
• Rosemary essential oil
• Eucalyptus essential oil
• Rose Geranium essential oil
• Base oil (like sweet almond)
• Shampoo
• Nit comb
• Small bottle

Instructions

1. Add 10 drops each of rosemary, rose geranium, eucalyptus, and lavender essential oils to a small bottle filled with 2 oz. of base oil and mix well.

2. Rub the treatment through the hair and leave it on for at least one hour.

3. Shampoo the infected hair and rinse well, then go over the hair with a nit comb.

4. Repeat this procedure in a few days' time or until the lice are gone.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure you do not get any essential oils in your eyes. If you do, wipe it out with sweet almond oil. Do not rinse with water, as it will disperse the oil too quickly.
