How to Replace the Pull Start Cord on my Murray Lawn Mower

The Murray lawn mower company offers affordable residential lawn equipment that is simple to run and maintain. All gas-powered mowers work by circling a cutting blade around a vertical axis. Power is generated by a gas-powered combustible engine. Murray mowers work in the same way. In order to start these engines, you need to use a pull cord. Things You'll Need

• Phillips screwdriver
• New pull cord

Instructions

1. Push the mower onto a flat surface and brace it with a brick or scrap piece of wood to guarantee stability.

2. Take out the screws securing the mower's housing with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the housing from the Murray mower and identify the disc containing the pull cord.

3. Unscrew the Phillips screws holding the disc housing in place.

4. Note the direction the pull cord is wound as you will need to install the new cord in the same direction, either clockwise or counterclockwise. Unwind the broken pull cord and remove it from the disc. Install the new cord onto the disc.

5. Reattach the disc cover by refastening all screws. Replace the Murray mower's external housing and start the mower to test new pull cord.
