How to Reinstall iTunes & Songs Off My iPod
The beauty of technology like iTunes software and iPod music players is they make the organization and transportation of thousands of audio files efficient, simple and compact. Where an entire bookshelf, or even a whole room, was necessary to store this much audio in vinyl, cassette or CD form, iTunes and the iPod now achieve this feat in an object that fits in your pocket. However, the probability of losing your whole audio library in a mere moment is almost inevitable at some point. Knowing how to recover from a loss of this nature is just as important as having the collection itself.

1
Download and install iTunes. Since you will need iTunes to organize your library once again, you will need to re-acquire it. It is provided by Apple for no charge at iTunes.com.

2
Download, purchase and install iRip software. This is the program you will use to recover songs from your iPod, and then transfer them into a new iTunes music library. The program costs $20 as of January 2010 and can be found at TheLittleAppFactory.com. Go to their site, click on the "iRip" icon and follow the download instructions. This software is invaluable, as it can be used limitlessly and you will always be able to "rip" music from your iPod, should your computer's hard drive crash.

3
Connect your iPod to your computer.

4
Open iRip software. iRip is very simple to use, and automatically detects an iPod connected to the computer. It looks like a more simplified version of iTunes. You can now select any songs you wish to "rip" to the computer by clicking on them and clicking "Import" at the bottom right-hand corner of the iRip window. This process will automatically copy the songs from your iPod to the iTunes library.

5
Open iTunes and verify that the songs have properly transferred from your iPod to the iTunes library. You can perform this process at any time and on any computer, should the hard drive crash or if you have any other critical failures that affect your music library. You should always store your whole music library on your iPod, if you can, for just this occasion.
