Petroleum jelly has been used by women for years to encourage eyelash growth. Why it works is a bit of mystery. It may just be that the eyelashes are conditioned by the petroleum jelly, resulting in far less loss of the eyelashes. Use petroleum jelly before bed to remove mascara, then apply a very thin layer to upper and lower lashes to condition them while sleeping. The first thing you will notice is the next day when applying your mascara, your lashes won't clump and mascara glides over them nicely. Whether petroleum jelly actually promotes eyelash growth or not, you will lose far less of your lashes and they appear thicker and longer.

Olive oil and vitamin E will strengthen your eyelashes over time. Use a clean eyelash brush to apply on dry lashes. You can wear the oil or vitamin E throughout the day, but don't do this before applying mascara (very messy).

Available over-the-counter are many serums and creams that help with eyelash growth, but do your homework first; read reviews of the products you are interested in before you buy, as these serums and creams are costly. If you've always wanted thicker, longer eyelashes, this may just be your answer; just don't expect a dramatic change over-night. These eyelash growth products normally take four to six weeks before you notice a change in thickness or length.
