Windows Mobile is based on Windows CE version 5.2, and is used in many devices, such as smart phones and PDAs. Windows Mobile operates much like the various versions of Windows found on desktop and laptop computers. Creating an application shortcut for your "Start Menu" can make accessing your most popular programs much simpler and quicker.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Windows Mobile device and wait for the operating system to finish loading.

    • 2

Navigate to "Settings" in the "Start Menu", then select "Menus".

    • 3

Select the application to which you would like to create a shortcut in your "Start Menu" from the list of installed applications. To select the application, click the check box next to the desired application and ensure that a check mark appears in the box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Only utilize shortcuts for applications you use on a regular basis. Cluttering your "Start" menu with lots of shortcuts will make it too cumbersome to be useful. Keep in mind that most mobile devices have a relatively small screen, so it doesn't take many shortcuts to clutter up your "Start" menu.

  • Follow the same process to remove an unneeded shortcut, but remove the check mark in the box next to the application you wish to remove.

  • Once your "Start Menu" has eight entries or more, the menu will shift to the center of the display so that all other "Start Menu" items are still visible. Once there are 11 entries or more, you will see scroll arrows, which will allow you to move up ad down the list. While this is not a bad thing, many users are surprised by the change.
