How to Fold a Dollar to Look Like a Hawaiian Shirt
Origami is the art of making shapes and objects out of paper. Many different designs can be produced out of paper currency, and dollar bill origami is quite popular. A fun example of dollar bill origami is making a Hawaiian shirt. When done correctly, the shirt will have short sleeves and a collar.

1
Fold into quarters lengthwise. Fold the dollar into quarters lengthwise by laying it face down in front of you and folding up the edge nearest you to the center of the bill and the edge furthest from you down to the center. The words "The United States of America" should appear on the bottom and the signatures of the Treasurer and Secretary of the Treasury should be visible in the upper half.

2
Make the collar. Fold one end of the dollar down (toward Washington's face and away from the opening created by the previous step) about 1/4 inch. To make the collar, fold the corners towards the center opening creating a diagonal line to the edge about an inch long.

3
Make the sleeves. Fold the opposite end toward the center opening about one half inch. Undo the fold and take the original corners evenly into the centerline, producing a point at the end of the bill. Undo and reverse this fold to produce two flanges that jut out past the edge of the bill (see References below for photos). Redo the original fold in this step to flatten the bill.
-
4
Make the body. With the central opening facing up, fold the dollar nearly in half so the end with the sleeves touches the collar, but don't crease firmly.
-
5
Secure the sleeves to the collar. Tuck the end of the bill with the sleeves under the collar to hold the shirt in place. Firmly crease the bottom of the bill.

Tips & Warnings
Experiment with the size of the sleeves and collar if the proportions of the bill aren't quite right at first. If the shirt is too long, your collar needs to be bigger.
