"Karaoke Revolution" is a series of games that allow players to sing along with songs. The player's performance is rated based on how accurately he or she can sing the song. "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore" was released for the Xbox 360 in 2008. The song comes with 40 different songs for players from a variety of genres. It is possible to download more songs for the game through the Xbox Live Marketplace. These songs are available for use once downloaded to the console hard drive.

Open the Xbox Dashboard. The Dashboard will appear when the console is turned on. You can get to it from a game by pressing the Xbox button on the controller and selecting "Go to Dashboard" from the menu that appears.

Choose to browse game downloads by title or by genre. If you choose to browse by title, the game is listed under "K." If you choose to browse by genre, the game is listed under "Music."

Select "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore" from the list of games.

Choose "All Downloads" from the menu that appears. A list of all the available songs to add to the game will appear.

Press the blue button on the controller to purchase Microsoft points if you do not have any available. Songs for "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore" cost 120 points. Follow the on screen instructions to purchase or redeem points.

Select "Download Now" from the menu. Confirm that you want to download the game when prompted. The song will automatically begin to download. Wait for the download to completely finish.

Start "Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore" by selecting the game from the Dashboard menu. The downloaded song will automatically be added to the song list.
