How to Make Your Own Power Bars

Make homemade power bars for a healthy, on-the-go snack. Homemade power bars can contain almost anything. Add chocolate, fruit, cereal, flavor extracts and seeds to make the bars. Swap out ingredients in the recipe to fit your tastes. The peanut butter holds it all together, but you can swap that out with apple butter or almond butter.   • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup sunflower seeds
  • 2/3 cup dried cherries, dried cranberries or raisins
  • 3 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 1/3 cup shredded coconut
  • 3 cups whole grain cereal
  • Cake pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Spoons
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • Rubber spatula

      Combine the peanut butter, honey and vanilla extract in a large bowl.

      Mix in the sunflower seeds, dried fruit, sesame seeds and coconut. You can substitute ingredients. For example, use pumpkin seeds instead of sunflower seeds.
