How to Take Care of My White Skirt Tetra
White Skirt Tetras are the albino version of the Black Skirt Tetra. They have the same behaviors and needs as their black cousins. They are beautiful fish that are sought after because of their flowing "skirt". Some breeders artificially dye white Tetra's to create a variety of colors. This is harmful to the fish and you should not purchase a White Tetra that has been dyed. Tetras are shy and peaceful fish and can provide you with a relaxing view if properly cared for.

1
Purchase additional Tetra's, either white or black. Tetra's need to be in a school of at least five fish. Less than this will cause stress to the fish and they may hide or bite the fins of the other fish in the tank.
-
2
Place the fish in a 20 gallon tank. A larger tank is desirable for schools of more than five fish.
-
-
3
Set the aquarium water temperature and quality. Keep the water temperature between 68 and 79 degrees Fahrenheit (20 - 26 degrees Celsius). Keep the water quality constant with a pH between 6 and 8 and a dH between 5 and 19.
-
4
Add large, live aquarium plants to the tank. White Skirt Tetras prefer to take refuge in plants; it makes them feel safe. Fill the bottom of the aquarium with neutral-colored gravel.
-
5
Feed your fish a variety of foods. White Skirt Tetras like insects, fish flakes, worms and algae. They like to eat both live and frozen food.
-
6
Keep the aquarium away from bright light. Do not put bright items with vivid colors in the aquarium. Tetras prefer subdued lighting.
