How to Make a Rose Greeting Card

A rose greeting card can be both feminine and beautiful, especially when the greeting card is homemade. Using a stencil to create a rose is an easy, no-fuss way to make a lovely card---especially when you do not possess the skills to paint a rose yourself. Instructions

    • 1

Measure a 10-inch by 6.5-inch rectangle on the sage green card stock and cut this rectangle out with the scissors. Measure a 4-inch square on the white card stock and cut this square out with the scissors.

    • 2

Fold the sage green card stock in half lengthwise and crease the fold well. Run the bone folder over the fold to finish the card fold. Set the sage green card aside momentarily.

    • 3

Position the rose stencil over the white square. Use the acrylic paint to fill in the shapes of the stencil, applying it with the stenciling paintbrushes. Work until you have created all of the petals and the leaves of the rose on the white square to your satisfaction. Set the stenciled rose aside to dry completely before proceeding.

    • 4

Use the scissors with the decorative edge to trim away 3/8 inch from the front right edge of the card. This will give the card a decorative front edge where it opens.

    • 5

Position the white card stock square with the stenciled rose on the front of the card. Center it or place it off-center, making the front of the card look as you desire. Use glue dots to affix the stenciled rose to the front of the card.

    • 6

Apply a line of craft glue around the entire perimeter of the white card stock square. Sprinkle glitter over the glue to frame the stenciled rose. Remove the excess glitter by tapping the card to allow the glitter to fall from the card. Allow the glue to dry completely before proceeding.

    • 7

Place a glue dot in the spot where you wish to affix a ribbon bow. Tie the ribbon into a bow, making the loops and tails of the bow even. Affix the box to the glue dot to finish the card.
