- Measuring tape
- 2 pieces of lumber
- Saw
- Paint or stain
- Paintbrush
- Drill
- Door handles
- Hinges
- Screws
- Screwdriver

Measure the width of your bookcase and divide it by two to determine the width of your doors. Purchase lumber that is as tall as your bookcase and the width determined by your measurements.

Cut the lumber to size, if necessary. Sand any rough edges.

Paint or stain your lumber to match your existing bookcase. Allow the paint to dry for 48 hours before continuing.

Remove all items from the bookcase and place it on its back to make attaching the doors easier.

Decide where you want your door handles on each door and attach them with screws according to their directions.

Measure out locations for two hinges on both sides of your doors and the bookcase. The measurements for the hinges must be identical.

Drill pilot holes in the doors and the bookcase. Attach the hinges with screws to each door and the bookcase.
