How to Delete Playlists in Windows Media Player

The Windows Media Player software will play several different types of audio files. Creating playlists in Windows Media Player allows you to listen to selected files that you have added to the playlist. These entire playlists can also be added to an MP3 player or burned onto a CD. You may have one too many playlists saved in the Windows Media Player library or you might want to remove all of the files on one playlist from your computer.

  • Open Windows Media Player.

  • Click the “Plus” sign that is positioned to the left of the “Playlists” label in the top left corner of Windows Media Player. The playlists in Windows Media Player will be listed.

  • Highlight the playlist or playlists you wish to delete from Windows Media Player.

  • Press “Delete” on your keyboard and a window will open.

  • Select “Delete from library only” if you just want to remove the playlist from the Windows Media Player library or choose “Delete from library and my computer” if you wish to delete the files off the computer.

  • Click “OK” in the window and the playlist will be deleted.
