How to Decorate With Paper Punches
Paper punches are a great way to make quick, easy shapes to decorate cards, scrapbooks and other crafts. Shape punchers use simple craft paper, so they are an inexpensive way to embellish your artwork. Use butterfly paper punches to create the look of butterflies fluttering in the sky, or use flower punched shapes to make a field of flowers or a bouquet of daisies. You can use circle paper punches to make a ladybug, a pizza or a basketball. Layer punched paper shapes to give every project a fun, 3-D look.

1
Unroll and tear off a piece of wax paper. Punch the shape punch you will be using through the craft paper several times. This will help lubricate the punch.
-
2
Slide a piece of craft or construction paper into the slot of the larger flower paper punch. Stand up so that you can lean your body directly over the shape puncher. Press down onto the puncher with the palm of your hand, and then slowly release the punch.

3
Carefully remove the punched paper shape. Repeat this process with the smaller flower shape, using a different color paper if you'd like. Place a glue dot in the middle of the larger flower, then stick the smaller flower to the larger one, making sure it is centered. Use your fingers to lift the edges of both flowers to give the look of the petals curling upward.

4
Create several more flowers, and then attach them to your card and paper using glue dots or regular craft glue. Use the flowers to randomly decorate cards or scrapbook pages, or bunch several flowers together and draw stems to create a bouquet.

5
Punch out butterfly and star shapes, or decorate circle-punched shapes into suns, moons, pizzas, donuts or even cookies. Glue punched paper shapes onto a variety of crafts to form any scene.

Tips & Warnings
If your paper punch is sticking, place it in the freezer for a few minutes. This will help the metal to shrink, which will loosen the movement of the puncher.
