How to Unblock an Email Video in Hotmail

Hotmail protects the safety of its members by automatically blocking content it deems unsafe. This includes blocking video attachments, as well as inline website links from senders you have not previously received messages from. You can easily adjust settings to unblock these files so that you are able to view attached or inline content in future messages from the sender.

Instructions

    • 1

Log into your Hotmail email account. Open the message in your inbox that contains the blocked video. Any time content is blocked in one of your messages, you will see the prompt "Show content" toward the top of your message.

    • 2

Click on the "Show content" link. Your screen will flash quickly as the attachment or inline link to the video loads. After your message reloads, attachments or inline content will become viewable.

    • 3

Click on the attachment file or inline website link to the video. You can choose to download and view the video immediately or choose to save it to view later.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not be alarmed when you receive email messages where content may be blocked. Even though you recognize the sender's email address, Hotmail blocks you from viewing content from unrecognized senders until you change your settings. Once you unblock content the first time, all subsequent messages with attached and inline content from the same sender will display normally. You must, however, do this every time a new sender sends you an email. The steps detailed above also works to unblock images and newsletter graphics created using HTML.
