How to Determine Processor Temperatures

Keeping your processor (CPU) cool is very important. "Healthy" CPU temperatures fall in between 30 to 60 degrees Celsius. Anything above those temperatures can damage the CPU and the motherboard. Checking your CPU temperatures every once in a while is very important for the upkeep of your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your computer. Wait for the black and white screen that lists all the parts in your computer to show up. When the screen appears, press either "Delete" or "F1" to access the BIOS of your computer.

    • 2

Go to the "System Monitor" on the main menu of the BIOS. Access the fan control.

    • 3

Look at the left side of the screen. There should be a list of different temperatures, such as case temperature and memory temperature. Usually, on the top of the list, you will see the CPU temperature.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your computer does not show the start-up screen when it turns on, repeatedly press either "Delete" or "F1" to access the BIOS.
