How to Convert a WMA to a MID File
The WMA (Windows Media Audio) format is Microsoft's proprietary audio file for its Windows Media Player. The WMA is often used for web audio, and it is also the standard format for Microsoft's Zune portable music player (fileinfo.com). MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) files contain data about instrument sections in a recorded piece: the length and volume of each note and each note's placement within a composition.

1
Direct a web browser, such as Apple's Safari or Microsoft's Internet Explorer, to a web file conversion site. Media-convert is one such page that allows its users to convert a variety of different file types, including many different kinds of audio files; fortunately, WMA and MID happen to be two of the supported formats.

2
Pick the grey "Choose File" button in the top left corner of the page. In the popup window, choose WMA as the audio file source you wish to convert. Media-convert allows you to select from over 25 audio file formats, including MP3 and FLAC. Click "Enter" to make your selection.

3
Select WMA as the Input type for the file you've selected, which is found directly to the right of the "Choose File" button. Ideally, Media-convert should automatically detect that you've picked a WMA to convert, but reselect the file type from the menu to make sure.

4
Choose "MAC" or "PC" for your audio output in the drop down window, which is located on the left side of the page. To the right, pick MID as your output format from the second drop down menu.

5
Click "Go" on the right side of the page once you've selected your preferences. The blue conversion bar will begin to fill up as the file converts from a WMA to a MID. Once the conversion process is complete, your new file will show up on your desktop, and your WMA will remain where you found it.
