How to Show Processor Information on Macbook

The MacBook computers offered by Apple receive internal hardware upgrades 1 to 2 times per year, while their physical designs often change little from year to year. If you are browsing recently-released MacBooks online, you might look at the processor speeds and models included and wonder how much of an upgrade they would be over your current MacBook. Use the System Profiler to determine the model and speed of the processor in your MacBook.

Instructions

    • 1

Double click the hard drive icon on the desktop.

    • 2

Browse to the "Applications" folder, then the "Utilities" folder. Note that you can also reach this folder by clicking "Go" on the menu bar at the top of the screen, then clicking "Utilities."

    • 3

Double click "System Profiler." The System Profiler opens in a new window.

    • 4

Click the "Hardware" entry on the menu at the left side of the window to display the hardware overview.

    • 5

Examine the "CPU Type" and "CPU Speed" items on the main portion of the window. These menu entries display the manufacturer, model and speed of the processor installed in your MacBook.
