A homemade flashlight is a pretty simple item to make. Because all flashlights are based on a simple model, you can make one out of household items. All you will need is a light and electrical source. It won't be the ideal flashlight, but it will be adequate for emergency situations.
Things You'll Need
- 9-volt battery
- Christmas-tree light
- Electrical tape
Remove the base from the tree light. You do this by gently pulling the plastic base away from the light bulb. The base will slip off with a little force. You can buy single decorative lights at any holiday or arts and crafts store. If you don't mind, you can just take one off of your holiday decoration. Taking one light will shut off all the other lights on the wire, however.
Separate the two small wires that hang from the bottom of the light.
Place the light on top of the battery so one wire is touching the charge on the right side of the battery, and one wire is touching the charge on the left side of the battery. The bulb will light up as soon as the wire makes proper contact with the charges.
Tape the light to the battery with electrical tape. Make sure the bulb is secure and the wires are constantly applying pressure to the charges.
