How to Use Auto Clean on a Frigidaire Electric Stove

Automatic cleaning on a Frigidaire stove uses massive amounts of heat to break down food stains and particles into dust, which can then be wiped away. The heat used is far more than you'd use for cooking. The self-cleaning function can have a delayed start or can clean immediately. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the clock displays the time of day. Most features on ovens rely on the time of day being set.

    • 2

Press the button marked "Start Time." The colon on the display will flash.

    • 3

Press and hold the "up" button to scroll to the time you'd like to start the cleaning.

    • 4

Press the button marked "Self Clean," followed by the up or down button. The digits 3:00 will appear to indicate a three hour clean is selected. Press the down button to change this to a two hour clean. The motor will lock the oven door--this takes about 15 seconds, so don't open the door during this door locking period. "Cln" will appear on the display along with the lock light.

    • 5

Keep an eye on the display. The lock light extinguishing will indicate the clean is complete. The oven unlocks about an hour after the two or three hour clean completes. This is for safety purposes.

    • 6

Open the oven door. Stand to one side to prevent any possible scalds from air or steam. The oven may still be very hot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Auto clean uses high heat. The outside of the oven can become hot to touch. Keep small children and pets away from the appliance when using auto clean.
