How to Play Clue Jr.

Clue Jr., the children's version of the game Clue, provides children with a chance to use their deductive reasoning to solve a mystery. Each child chooses a character and walks around a mansion (board game) gathering clues. The object of the game is to be the first to correctly devise which character had which pet in which room. If you are familiar with the original Clue, this strays from the murder scenario presented in that game. Instead, children try to discover who is hiding with a pet.

Instructions

    • 1

Instruct each player to pick a mover or character to use. Hand each player a detective note pad and a pencil. Place each mover on the colored space that matches that mover.

    • 2

Shuffle the mystery cards and place one in the mystery card sleeve. This will remain hidden until the end of the game. The youngest player will go first, then game play will continue to the left. Instruct the first player to continue to Step 3.

    • 3

Spin the spinner and move the number of spaces on which it lands. You can go in any direction.

    • 4

Look into a room if you end in the space in front of it. Mark off the child and pet you see in the room. Don't let the other players see what you have marked off. Your turn is over. The next player should advance to Step 5.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4. Allow the next player to take her turn.

    • 6

Make a guess at the mystery when you think you know the answer. Announce your guess and slide open the clue revealer door to see if you are right. If you are, you win. If not, slide the door back. Game play continues until someone announces the correct combination.

Tips & Warnings

  • Many Clue Jr. games have themes. These instructions are written for the basic game, but they apply to any version of Clue Jr.

  • If there is another player on the space in front of the room you want to look at, wait on the space behind that player. On your next turn, you can move to that space and look inside the door.

  • If you land on a secret passage space, you can move to any other secret passage space on the board.
