How to Choose a Round Table Cloth
It's easy to choose a round table cloth if you keep a few things in mind. A table cloth should drop a minimum of 12 inches but still looks attractive with a drop as deep as 16 inches. For more detail a round or square topper can be placed on top of a round table cloth to add additional color or pattern. Decide what look you want. A more formal look would take the tablecloth to just above the floor.

Measure the diameter of the table. Measure the drop from the table to the floor. Jot these measurements down.

For a classic look, double the average drop of 13 to 16 inches and add that to the diameter to calculate the diameter of the tablecloth. For a floor length tablecloth double the drop from the table to the floor and add that to the table diameter to see what size tablecloth you need. Jot these measurements down.

Choose the size tablecloth that best fits these parameters. Round tablecloths come in standard sizes of 60, 70, 90, 120 and 144 inches. A 70 inch round will fit a table that is between 44 and 60 inches in diameter. A 90 inch tablecloth will fit nicely on tables with diameters 60 to 78 inches.

Stick with standard sizes to keep costs down. However, several retailers offer custom made tablecloths made to fit more uncommon table sizes.

If a tablecloth does not have a drop of 13 or more inches it looks out of proportion to the table.
