Instructions

  1. Prepare the area

    • 1

Dampen a washcloth with warm water and place it over the eyebrows, covering the sensitive area of skin above the eyes. Leave a warm towel on for at least three minutes to open pores for easier (and less painful) tweezing.

    • 2

Place the ruler's edge vertically so that it's perfectly aligned with the edge of your nostril and extends up past the eyebrows. The spot where the edge touches your eyebrow delineates where your eyebrow should start and helps create symmetrical brows.

    • 3

Draw a line with white pencil along the edge of the ruler where it touches the inner part of the eyebrow. Hair beyond this line will be tweezed. Repeat Step 2 on the other eyebrow.

    • 4

Hold the ruler's edge diagonally over the face so it touches the outer tip of the eye and extends past the nose, touching the edge of the nostril. The spot where the ruler's edge crosses the eyebrow delineates where the eyebrow should end.

    • 5

Mark the spot with the white pencil. Repeat Step 4 on the other eyebrow.

    • 6

Tweeze hairs beyond the white marks. Pinch the hair shaft as close to the base as possible, then pluck it out in one swift tug. Repeat this on all dark, thick hairs.

    • 7

Leave hair above the brows alone for the most part. Brush the brow using an eyebrow brush in the natural direction of hair growth. If the hair around the arch is very dense or there isn't a definitive arch, pluck the stray hairs that don't seem to conform to the brow's natural shape.

    • 8

Brush the brow hair upward. Pluck the dark, thick stray hairs beneath the brow's natural curvature. Do not pluck from dense areas of hair, as this is the natural eyebrow and its shape should be preserved as much as possible.

    • 9

Wipe plucked hairs away with damp towel. Apply aloe vera gel to the plucked areas that are red or sensitive.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check on your progress every few tweezes to ensure you aren't over-tweezing and the eyebrows are still symmetrical.

  • Make sure tweezers are clean every time you use them by wiping the tips down with rubbing alcohol before and after use.
