Instructions

    • 1

Unhook the keyboard from the computer. If it is a wireless keyboard, make sure that the batteries have been removed.

    • 2

Place the flat-head screwdriver under the key that is sticking and gently press up. The key should pop out. If it is sticking, try giving a bit of pressure on the other side.

    • 3

Repeat this to pop out all of the keys immediately surrounding the sticky key, to give yourself an area to work in.

    • 4

Dip one of the cotton swabs in the rubbing alcohol and use it to clean the sticky key and the area where it attaches to the keyboard. Remove any dirt and grime that may be causing the key to stick.

    • 5

Dip a cotton swab in the plastic-friendly lubricant. Liberally coat the bottom of the key with the lubricant and let it dry to a grease-like consistency.

    • 6

Place the key back on the keyboard by placing it over the locking hole and pressing down gently until it locks into place. Replace the other keys.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are worried about using rubbing alcohol on your keyboard, try to clean the area with a dry cotton swab. You might be able to get most of the dust with just the swab.

  • Don't remove all of the keys at once unless you know exactly where they go.

  • Don't press too hard on the keys or they might crack.
