How to Catch crappies

The main thing about catching crappies is finding them. In the spring they are in shallow water and then they slowly moe to deep water. In winter crappies can be in the deepest part of the lake. Go to these ares to catch fish.

      Depending on the season find the fish. You can either see them through the water in spring, gamble and try the hit and miss around the lake to find them. You can also use the fish locator.

      When you find them see what they will hit on. Start with a crappie minnow. If they do not strike on these try jigs and tails. Slowly retrieve these through the water. Try different colors and combinations til you get them to strike. When you accomplish this your in.

      When fish strike set hook lightly. Crappies have a real soft mouth. To big of a jerk will rip hook through there mouth. When reeling line in keep it tight, any slack will cause a jerk that will rip hook out of there mouths.

      Remember to move according to season. You have to stay where fish are.

      Change bait to water clarity too. Fish can see different colors better in different conditions.
