How to Make a 4 Wire CPU Fan Run At Full Speed
CPUs are the hottest components inside of a computer. They have their own four-pin (wire) fans with attached heatsinks to cool them down. Inadequate CPU cooling makes the CPU very hot, which will cause the motherboard to shut down the computer to prevent further damage. You can lower CPU temperatures by simply going to the BIOS and adjusting the CPU fan speeds.

1
Download the latest BIOS update for your motherboard through the motherboard manufacturer's website. Install the BIOS onto your computer and then turn it off.
-
2
Power on your computer and access the BIOS by clicking "Delete" during the start up screen. The start-up screen is the screen that shows all of the computers components in black and white.

-
3
Go to the "System Monitor," which is on the main menu, and select "Dynamic Fan Control."
-
4
Select the "CPU Fan Speed Control." If this setting is on "Auto", change it to "Manual."
-
5
Type in the speed that you want the CPU fan to be spinning at (100 = 100 percent). Apply the changes by clicking "F10" and restart your computer.
-
6
After the computer restarts, you will hear an audible difference in the fan. If there was no change, check to see if you have a feature that is called "SmartFan", which automatically adjusts your CPU fan speeds to the temperatures of the CPU. If it is enabled, disable it, click F10 and then restart your computer
