1
Fill a spray bottle with water. Spray the water on the dried grout to moisten it prior to attempting to remove it from the tile.
-
2
Use a stick made of oak to scrape the grout from the tile. The stick should be about 1/4 inch thick, 1 inch wide, and 6 inches long. Apply pressure while scraping grout from the tile. Spray on more water as necessary, to soften the grout and make it easier to remove. Sweep or vacuum up the clumps of grout that were scraped from the tile.

3
Spray the tile with more water. Use a nylon scouring pad to scrub the tile where the dried grout once was. Add more water as necessary to keep the surface wet. This will remove any haze left by the grout.
-
4
Rinse the tile with a clean rag and water. Dry the tile with a soft cloth. Once the tile is completely dry, you will be able to see if all the grout and grout haze are off the tile.

5
Repeat scrubbing with a nylon scouring pad if there is still grout residue left on the tile. If the tile still has a haze from the grout after a few scrubbings, dissolve 1 cup of white sugar into a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water. Pour some of the mixture directly onto the tile, or soak paper towels in the solution and place them onto the affected tile. Allow the sugar water to soak into the tile for about two hours. Scrub the tile again with the nylon scouring pad. Rinse the area with a rag and clear water, then dry it with a soft cloth.
