How to Color With Marker Pens
Marker pens, also known as felt-tip and fine-tip markers, come in a wide variety of forms. Those forms include permanent, non-permanent and highlighter. People of all ages use marker pens in a multitude of ways. They use marker pens for writing, coloring and highlighting in arts and crafts, business, home organizing and other projects. Coloring with marker pens isn't difficult. As with other coloring instruments (crayons, colored pencils and paints), you can use the markers as you desire.

1
Use marker pens to "fill" in large areas. Place the long or "broad" side of the marker pen tip on your coloring surface and color back-and-forth to fill if you're using a wide-tipped marker pen. Consider "shading" the fill area with parallel diagonal, vertical or horizontal lines if you're using fine-tip marker pens to avoid wasting ink.

2
Trace outlines with your marker pens. Use the short end of a wide-tipped marker to trace along the path of your outlines. Ensure that your marker is thicker than the line marking your outline.

3
Highlight areas with highlighters or metallic marker pens. Trace along outlines or borders of drawings with bright highlighters to make the drawings glow. If you're coloring a dark night sky, use a silver metallic marker pen to make tiny stars that reflect off your drawing surface.

Use metallic pens to highlight artwork or color ornaments and glass pieces.
