How To Exfoliate With Glycolic Acid
For centuries beautiful skin has been regarded as a sign of radiance and attractiveness. Both men and women strive to maintain a clear complexion free of acne, fine lines, wrinkles, and discoloration. Glycolic acid aids all skin types susceptible to these hereditary and daily damages by exfoliating dead skin cells from the skin's epidermis (surface) and dermis (second major) layers of the skin. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid, derived from citrus fruit, and contains several essential vitamins needed for healthy skin. Experience a youthful, blemish- free complexion by exfoliating with a glycolic acid peel. Does this Spark an idea?

Cleanse, Tone, and Exfoliate

1
Clean the areas of your body or face where the glycolic acid peel will be applied. Cleansing the skin properly before applying the acid peel removes the excess dirt and sebum oils that your glands produce on a daily basis. All cosmetics must be removed from the face and body to ensure the peel's effectiveness. Remove the skin cleanser using warm water, and pat dry with a towel.
-
2
Apply a gentle skin toner to the cleansed skin. Using cotton balls, gently rub the toner in a circular motion over your skin to avoid additional irritation. Allow the toner to air dry on the skin for approximately five minutes.

3
Dispense a dime-size portion of the glycolic acid peel into the palm of your hand, and apply it to the cleansed and toned skin. Allow the glycolic acid to soak into the skin for approximately two minutes. Rinse with cool water to remove, and pat dry with a towel.

4
Apply a moisturizer to the treated skin.

5
Use this treatment twice daily for six months for best results. Visible results can occur within the first month of glycolic acid peel treatment.

Tips & Warnings
If possible, use a peel containing 15 to 20 percent glycolic acid.
Glycolic acid may be displayed as " Glycolic acid" or "Glycolic acid + Ammonium Glycolate" on acid peel ingredients label.
Read labels carefully to ensure you purchase an effective product.
Always consult your dermatologist before exfoliating with glycolic acid. While glycolic acid is a healthy AHA, the acidity levels may not be suited for certain skin types. When using a glycolic acid peel, you may experience "tingling and tightening" of the skin. If the tingling and tightening sensation is at all discomforting, remove the glycolic acid peel and discontinue its use. Glycolic acid may cause stinging, redness, scabbing, and slight irritation to certain skin types.
