How to Send HTML & Plain Text Email Simultaneously

If you maintain an email contact list for a business or discussion group, you may have a challenge on your hands because of your readers' differing email format preferences. Some prefer HTML email for its ability to include graphics and links, while others prefer to receive messages in plain text because HTML-based email can sometimes hide malicious code. The simplest way to please both groups is to send HTML and plain text email simultaneously, which can be done with the Thunderbird email client.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Thunderbird, and click the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen.

    • 2

      Click "Options."

    • 3

Click the "Composition" tab at the top of the window, then click the "General" tab below it.

    • 4

      Click the "Send Options" button.

    • 5

Click the drop-down menu under "Text Format" and select "Send the message in both plain text and HTML." With this option selected, Thunderbird sends each message in both formats, and the recipient's email software opens only the version of the message they prefer.
