How to Write Degrees in Public Administration on a Resume

Unless you have a lengthy work history in the public sector, you should begin your resume by listing information about your degrees in public administration. If you are a recent graduate with little work experience, consider building on your education section to discuss the public administration courses you took and any public service internships you completed. If you plan on going back to school to earn any additional degrees in public administration, consider adding a professional profile outlining your educational plans to the beginning of your resume.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a separate section on your resume for your education. List your public administration degrees, along with any other degrees and diplomas you have received, in a section entitled "Education."

    • 2

List your most recently completed degree first. Even if the last degree program you completed was not in public administration, list your educational history in reverse chronological order.

    • 3

Write out the formal name of the degree. List the name of the degree you earned, such as "Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration" or "Master of Public Administration."

    • 4

Provide the name of the school where you earned your public administration degree. In addition to the school's name, list the city and state where it is located.

    • 5

State your graduation date. Provide the month and the year that you earned your degree. If you are still a student, list your anticipated graduation date.

    • 6

List your educational achievements. Include your grade point average and any honors and awards that you received while working on your degrees.

    • 7

Include information on your publications. If you completed a thesis while working on your degree, list its title. Also include the names of academic articles you published that are related to public administration, business management or any other closely related social science or business discipline.
