How to Make Your Own Wallet Pattern

Save

Making a wallet can be an enjoyable project that will not take a lot of time to complete. The first thing to think about when you want to make a wallet is what you want the wallet to look like when it is finished. Your wallet can be any size, any shape and any color you desire. You can also create as many pockets and compartments as you need to make your wallet exactly what you want. Take the time to make your own wallet pattern before you begin the project.

Things You'll Need

  • White paper
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Fabric
  • Decide on the dimensions and the style you wish to make your wallet. A simple wallet design that you can complete in a short time is a bi-fold wallet that unfolds flat when it is open and folds in half to carry.

  • Draw a rectangle on the white paper with the ruler and pencil. Suggested size for a bi-fold wallet is 4 inches wide and 8.5 inches long (1/2-inch seam allowance is added in to both dimensions). Label this piece “1.”

  • Make a second rectangle that is 3.5 inches wide and 8.5 inches long. This will create one wallet pocket. Label this piece “2.”

  • Draw a third rectangle that is 2.25 inches wide and 8.5 inches long. This will create a second wallet pocket. Label this piece “3.”

  • Cut out all three rectangles with the scissors.

  • Cut two fabric pieces from piece 1. Cut one fabric piece each from pieces 2 and 3.
