How to Date Rich Singles

William Makepeace Thackeray once wrote "Remember, it is as easy to marry a rich woman as a poor woman." Others have echoed variations on this theme for generations. While this saying isn't necessarily true, there are things you can do to make it more likely you will meet rich singles. Doing so will require a little study, effort and perhaps cash as well. Make a good first impression and anything could happen.

Instructions

    • 1

Dress the part. If you're going to meet rich singles, you need to look like one of them. This doesn't mean you have to take out a loan to buy designer duds. Instead, shop resale stores in tony neighborhoods. Choose classic, well-made basics. Have the outfits tailored to fit you. Dress conservatively but well.

Go where the rich go. Ginie Sayles, author of How to Meet the Rich, points out that in order to meet rich people you have to be where they are. You have to go to the clubs, restaurants and vacation spots where the rich hang out. Frequent stores where the rich shop; you don't have to spend a lot of money. Buy a single glass of wine or a cup of coffee, or spend time examining the produce in upscale markets. Smile and say hello to anyone who strikes your fancy.

    • 3

Travel with the rich. Cash in your frequent flier miles for a first class seat the next time you fly. Visit the Admiral's Club before your flight and strike up a conversation with your fellow travelers. Ask a travel agent who caters to wealthy clientele to reveal the hotels and resorts they favor. If you can't afford to book at that particular property, book nearby.

    • 4

Volunteer with charities patronized by the rich. Big money fundraisers are good places to meet the people with big money.

    • 5

Ask friends for introductions. Even in your friends aren't rich they may work with, live near or know wealthy people. Ask them to introduce you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't lie. If your rich date asks you outright what you do, don't tell him you're the CEO of a company if you're really the secretary. He will eventually learn the truth if things get serious, and then he'll feel betrayed, knowing you lied to him.

  • Don't focus on finances. Rich people can spot gold-diggers.
