How to Clone a Hard Drive With XXClone

Hard drives, as much space as they seem to have, get filled up rather quickly with files such as music, movies, games and applications. It eventually comes to the point where you'll need to purchase another drive. However, when you purchase the new drive, know that you can easily transfer the contents and operating system of your old drive to the new one using the software XXClone.

      Connect the two hard drives to the computer. You will be copying the files of one hard drive to the other one. If connecting an internal drive, be sure to follow the instructions to install the hard drive to the computer. External hard drives should work without any software needed when plugged in via a USB cable.

      Point your browser to XXClone's website and download it. If you have already downloaded and installed XXClone, skip to the next step.

      Double-click on the icon for XXClone to open up the window.

      Use the top box to select the source drive. This is the drive that contains the information you want to clone.

      Select the destination drive using the box underneath the source box. This is the drive you will be copying the source drive's contents to.

      Click the option to back up files by creating them from scratch, then click "Start."

Tips & Warnings

  • Some programs may not work on an external hard drive, and others may need to be reinstalled.
