If the jacket is older or soiled, check its label for cleaning information. If the jacket can go through the washing machine, set the machine on its cool, delicate setting and turn it on. Pour a cap full of gentle laundry detergent into the water, wash and rinse the jacket, and dry it according to the label directions.

4
Spray the waterproofing formula onto the jacket, using a smooth, continuous motion. Put on a coating that is heavy enough to get the jacket moist and take a moment to spray under any fabric flaps, including collars or zipper overlays. Spray a heavier layer around the zipper, seams and cuffs.

5
Hang the jacket on the hanger or clothesline and allow it to dry completely before wearing.
