Fill the kettle 3/4 full with water. Add in 1/2 cup of household vinegar. The vinegar will clean, disinfect and remove any odor from the kettle.

Place the kettle on the hotplate, and turn the hotplate on.

Allow the water to boil as you normally would. The vinegar solution will foam, which is a normal part of the cleaning process. As the vinegar foams, it is cleaning the walls of the kettle.

When the water has been brought to a boil, let it sit for five minutes, then pour the water down the drain.

Wipe the kettle with a damp sponge. Then rinse the kettle with hot water.

Dry with a dish towel, and the kettle is ready for use.
