How to Open DRW Files (3 Steps)

By Stephen Lilley

A DRW file is a type of vector-drawing file used by a few programs in Windows and one program on a Mac. These files use a series of lines to represent an image, as opposed to dots (which are used to represent an image in files like JPEG and GIF files). If you want to open a DRW file on your computer, you just need to have the appropriate program installed.

Step 1

Make sure you have a program that can read and understand DRW files installed on your computer. On a Mac, the only program you can use is Apple Appleworks. In Windows, you can choose between Microsoft Picture It, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, Corel PaintShop Photo Pro and Micrografx Windows Draw.

Step 2

Navigate to the directory where your DRW file is stored.

Step 3

Click on the file to open it (if you're using a Mac). Double-click on the file to open it (if you're using a Windows-based computer). The file will launch and its contents will display in the program that it is associated with.
