How to Become a National Sales Director in Mary Kay

Less than two hundred women currently hold the title of National Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. These star achievers have risen from a pool of over eight thousand Independent Sales Directors. All directors at any level start their careers with the purchase of a Starter Kit, formerly known as a Beauty Showcase. National Sales Directors have to build their organizations from the ground up, selling products, building a customer base and recruiting stellar leadership to achieve the title.

  • Get a sponsorship into the company by a current member and buy a starter kit. With the purchase of the starter kit, you become an Independent Beauty Consultant. Place your first order for inventory and book your first appointments.

  • Recruit your first eight team members and encourage them to reach ‘active’ status by placing their first orders. Buy your red jacket and accept your promotion to DIQ or Director in Qualification. Continue to sell product and recruit new members.

  • Finish DIQ within three months with the required 30 ‘active’ members and $14,000 in wholesale production. Accept your promotion to Directorship. Continue to sell product, build your customer base and recruit new members.

  • Coach potential leaders in your organization to reach the level of director. Branch out with three offspring directors and reach the level of Independent Elite Executive Sales Director. Continue to coach potential leaders until you have at least ten first line offspring with ten second line offspring.

  • Fulfill the requirements needed for submitting your National in Qualification paper work to the corporate office. This can be done in three different ways. The first is to have twelve first line offspring directors, including three Senior Sales Directors and eight second line directors. The second option to meet the requirements are to have eleven first line offspring with three Senior Sales Directors and nine second line offspring. The last option is to have ten first line offspring sales directors with three Senior Sales Directors and ten second line offspring directors.

  • Enter NIQ or National In Qualification by submitting your paper work to Mary Kay cosmetics and receiving approval from the company to proceed. Help each director meet the $100,00 wholesale production requirements for four months in a row. Assist the second line directors meet their wholesale production goals of $50,000 per month for four months.

  • You may need the help of a career coach when entering NIQ to give you guidance reaching your goals.
  • Not everyone is successful at completing NIQ. If you miss your target you will have to start over.
