Instructions

  1. Instructions

    • 1

Determine the area of work surface required. Design the kind of corner desk to be employed for this area. Include supporting items like bookshelves, drawers and shelves accordingly.

    • 2

Get the materials from a local lumber store. Buy MDF wood to suit a cheaper budget.

    • 3

Cut the MDF or wood according to guidelines of design. Cut one top panel and the required number of legs to support it. Use a skill saw for cutting. Do not move the blade too fast or it will splinter the piece of wood.

    • 4

Mark out the dimensions on wall where desk is to be attached using a stud finder and a pencil.

    • 5

Use wood screws to attach the top of the desk to the wall by hitting the stud every time for each screw. Fill the entire top of screw holes with wood putty and sand until it is smooth. A stronger desk is obtained if this process is followed.

    • 6

The legs of the desk can either be attached to the wall or can rest on the floor. Make two slanting legs, joining the outer lower edge of desk's top surface to the wall if they have to be attached. Prepare a rectangular frame of four legs if they have to rest on the floor.

    • 7

Place trim on the outer edge of the wood or MDF to give the corner desk unit a finished look. Paint the desk to complete finishing.

Tips & Warnings

  • While designing and calculating area, a graph paper can be used to draw and represent the room. Consider each square as 1 foot and then plan accordingly. Include maximum detail in this sketch.

  • Choose the wood wisely as different types of wood have different levels of strength and life.

  • Place an extra bookshelf or a cabinet underneath the desk to use the space efficiently.
