  • Melted butter or margarine
  • Melted vegetable shortening
  • Coconut, olive, canola or other cooking oil

      Use any kind of fruit puree as a substitute for vegetable oil. This includes applesauce or prune puree. Use the same amount of applesauce as you would use of vegetable oil. This will make whatever you're cooking less fattening.
