How to Kill Bedbugs
Many people think that they can never get bedbugs, and when they do find out that they have bedbugs the first thing that they think is "how can I kill bedbugs". How to kill bedbugs is not the easiest, cut and dry thing to do, because they are resilient animals that rank right up there with the cockroach for survivability.
Well before you can kill bedbugs you need to know your enemy first. The bedbug is a wingless insect that feeds on the blood of warm blooded animals. In the event they are in your home they are certain to be feeding on you. They make their homes in our mattresses, couches, sofas, clothes, rugs; pretty much anywhere they can hide in your bedroom or living room. They don't come out in the light so you will need to turn on a flashlight in darkness on your mattress to see them. Baby bedbugs are about the size of a poppy seed, and adult bedbugs can grow to about ¼" big.
Now you may be able to kill bedbugs, but if you have a bedbug infestation I would advise you to try the steps listed, and also call an exterminator who has special equipment to kill bedbugs.

The first step to kill bedbugs is to remove all clutter from the room that suffers from bedbugs. Removing clutter means throwing things out. Put it in plastic garbage bags, tie up, and immediately REMOVE it from your home. If you don't have a dumpster place it outside until garbage day, don't keep inside or in a garage, because they can spread.

For items that can't be washed you can cover them loosely with plastic wrap and place them outside in a very hot and sunny location for at least a full 24 hours. The goal here is reach an internal temperature of at least 120 F. Temperature above 120 degrees kills bedbugs.
If you are in the middle of winter, freezing can work as well. If you want to kill bedbugs by freezing you will need to leave the items outside for several days to kill the population. -

Use a vacuum to clean cracks and crevices in furniture and bedding. This will not get rid of your bedbugs but will cut the population down enough so a professional can deal with them quicker. If you use a vacuum just make sure to empty the contents IMMEDIATELY when you are done and DISCARD them to a sealed bag and place it outside your residence. This will prevent them from spreading to other parts of your home.
