How to Make an Engagement Card

  • Cream card stock, 6 x 10 inches
  • Metallic gold card stock, 6 x 10 inches
  • Paper hole punch
  • Gold glitter spray
  • Gold-edged cream silk ribbon, 1/4 inch wide

      Fold the cream card stock in half with a sharp crease to create a 6- x 5-inch inside card for the homemade engagement card. Fold the gold card stock in half with a sharp crease to create a 6- x 5-inch outside card for the homemade engagement card.

      Punch a hole in each corner on the front of the gold card, keeping the holes 1/2 inch from the edge of the paper. Lightly spray the front of the cream card with gold glitter spray. Set the cream card aside for later steps and let the glitter dry.

      Cut a piece of ribbon 16 inches long. Thread one end of the ribbon from the back to the front of the upper left-hand hole in the gold card. Thread the other ribbon from the back to the front of the upper right-hand hole. Bring the ribbon ends together in the middle of the upper card and tie the ribbon in a small bow. Cut the ends of the ribbon short. Repeat the process to thread a ribbon through the lower holes and create a bow.

      Cut a piece of ribbon 18 inches long. Thread one end of the ribbon from the back to the front of the upper left-hand hole in the gold card. Thread the other end of the ribbon from the back to the front of the lower left-hand hole. Tie the ribbon ends together in a small bow in the middle of the left edge of the card. Cut the ribbon ends short. Repeat the process to thread a ribbon through the holes on the right side and create a bow.

      Sketch and cut out the shape of a large heart in the middle-front of the gold outer card. Take the cream card and slide it into the gold card so that the heart shape is filled with gold-glittered cream. Cover the inside of the gold card with rubber cement and secure the cream card to create a gold outside and cream inside for your homemade engagement card. Let dry.
