How to Change From Using Internal Memory in a Sony Cybershot

Most digital cameras--including Sony's line of Cybershot cameras--have a small amount of internal memory so that you can take pictures if you don't have a memory card or if your memory card is filled up. If you want to stop using the internal memory on your Sony Cybershot, all you have to do is insert a Sony Memory Stick Duo or a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo--depending on which Cybershot you have. After that the camera takes care of the rest.

Things You'll Need

  • Sony Memory Stick Duo or Pro Duo (depends on your camera)

Instructions

    • 1

Open the battery/Memory Stick cover. Depending on which Sony Cybershot you have, the cover will either be on the bottom or the side of the camera.

    • 2

Slide the Memory Stick into the small slot next to the battery until it clicks into place.

    • 3

Close the cover, turn the camera on and start shooting pictures--with a Memory Stick in the camera, your photos will start saving to the stick instead of the internal memory.

Tips & Warnings

  • Your Memory Stick sits next to your battery--you will not have to remove the battery to insert the Memory Stick.

  • Sony Cybershots operate on either the Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick Pro Duo --the two memory sticks are not interchangeable. Consult your manual to find out which stick your camera uses.
