How to Clean Co2 Airsoft Pistols
Airsoft gaming has taken the sporting goods industry by storm. Enjoyed by a wide range of individuals, airsoft guns are used for backyard target shooting, collecting and large scale scenario games and reenactments. Airsoft pistols, especially CO2-powered models, are very popular and are designed to replicate many popular firearms. CO2-powered air pistols should be periodically cleaned to ensure effectiveness.

1
Remove the CO2 cartridge or disconnect the air-supply tank from the pistol. Place the safety to the "On" position. These steps are crucial to ensure the pistol is secure for cleaning.
-
2
Remove the clip, if necessary, from the pistol by depressing the clip release button located on the side of the grip near the trigger.
-
-
3
Use a clean cloth with a small amount of multipurpose oil, such as WD-40, to wipe down and clean the clip. Pay special attention to springs, as well as any other moving part, making sure to apply a thin film of lubricant.
-
4
Attach a patch holding tip to the end of a cleaning rod of appropriate diameter for the airsoft gun barrel. Insert a cleaning patch into the holder and spray with silicon spray lubricant. Use only 100 percent pure silicon spray.
-
5
Run the patch in and out of the barrel, while making sure not to allow the cleaning rod to scrape along the barrel. Attempt to guide the tip and rod directly in and out of the barrel. Remove the patch. Insert another clean patch and run through the barrel one time to remove excess silicon.
-
6
Wipe down the exterior of the pistol using a clean cloth with a small amount of multipurpose oil. Apply a thin coat of lubricant to act as a barrier against moisture.

Tips & Warnings
Use only 100 percent pure silicon spray in the barrel. Do NOT use firearm solvents or lubricating oils.
Cleaning the barrel with silicon spray will remove any manufacturing shavings or debris--and will act as a lubricant for seals and barrel.
Use caution when working with silicon spray and oils. Wear gloves if necessary and do not inhale the spray or oil. Use in a well-ventilated area away from flame.
