When you enable geotagging for the Camera app in iOS 7, your iPhone automatically adds location-based tags to the pictures you take. Unlike in iOS 6, iPhones running iOS 7 group similarly geotagged items together into location-based Moments and Significant Places categories to automate and simplify the process of photo organization. Before you can take advantage of these geotagging features, you must turn geotagging on in the Settings app.

Geotagging is enabled on an app-by-app basis. To turn geotagging on for the Camera app, start by tapping the "Settings" icon on the iPhone's home screen to launch the Settings app. Tap "Privacy" and then tap "Location Services" to open the Location Services screen. Toggle the virtual "Location Services" switch to the On position and then scroll down and toggle the "Camera" switch to the On position as well. You'll know the switches are turned on when they turn green.

App-Specific Geotagging and Location Tracking Warnings

To disable geotagging in the future, toggle the "Camera" switch back to the Off position. If you use any third-party camera apps that are compatible with geotagging, you must enable location services for them as well. All the apps that can track your location are listed on the Location Services screen. If you're uneasy about your iPhone tracking your location in other apps, toggle the switches to the Off position to disable location tracking for the associated apps. Depending on whom you are photographing and whether you share photos online, you may leave geotagging disabled. Specific location data makes it easy for strangers and other unwanted parties to learn your whereabouts.
