Instructions

    • 2

Select Window>Layers if the Layers palette is not already shown in the palette selection to the right of your canvas. Click on the Layers palette tab to access its options.

    • 3

Locate the layer on your image containing the text you want to remove. Text layers have a capital T on the thumbnail to the left of the layer's title in the palette. Shift+Click on additional text layers if you want to remove multiple text elements from ther layout.

    • 4

Click on the layer title of the text layer and drag it down to the trashcan icon at the bottom right-hand corner of the Layers palette.

    • 5

Select File>Save or type Ctrl+S (Command+S for Mac users) to save your image with the text removed.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can delete text from a PSD by clicking on it within the layer the text is on and, with the Type Tool selected, backspacing or deleting it out. However, a text layer will still remain on your document, increasing the size of the file and getting in the way further along your workflow. Each time text is added to an image, a new layer is created, so there is no risk of accidentally deleting additional elements of the image by deleting the text layer completely.
