Open the AVG Free software on your computer. Usually double-clicking the icon for AVG Free will accomplish this.

Click on the "Tools" Menu in the toolbar at the top of the AVG Free window. A drop-down menu will appear.

Click on "Advanced Settings..." from this drop-down menu. A new window will appear.

Look for a section titled "Balloon tray notifications" within this window. It should be in the middle of the window.

Unclick all boxes underneath "Balloon tray notifications." This will stop more upgrade notifications.
