How to Customize a Ball Cap

Ball caps are ideal for the hot summer months, when you want to stay cool and keep the sun out of your eyes. They're also ideal when playing sports with your friends. Many companies offer custom ball caps for sale, but these are often a bit pricey. It's easy to make your own custom ball cap without spending much money, provided you have a few supplies on hand.

Things You'll Need

• Ball cap
• Scanner
• Computer
• Photo editing program
• Inkjet printer
• Transfer paper
• Scissors
• Iron

Instructions

1. Choose the photo, logo or design that you want to put on your ball cap. If necessary, use your scanner to scan it onto your computer.

2. Edit your image using your photo editing program so that it is the proper size for your ball cap. Most adult caps can accommodate an image that is 2 or 3 inches in diameter.

3. Load your printer with transfer paper. Print your design onto the transfer paper and cut it out so that it will fit on your hat.

4. Place your printed design face down on your hat and iron it on using the steam setting on your iron. You'll usually need to press the design with an iron for one or two minutes, but follow any instructions that come with the iron.

5. Peel away the protective backing from you ball cap, leaving the design on your hat. Transferred designs are washable, so you can follow the normal washing instructions on your ball cap, should it become soiled.
