How to Make Jam With Agave Nectar
Sugar tastes good, but too much of it can be harmful. Refined sugars can contribute to obesity, diabetes and a number of other health problems. There are, however, alternatives to traditional sucrose available to consumers. One such alternative is agave nectar. Agave nectar is a natural, plant-derived sugar substitute that provides all of the sweetness of sugar with few unhealthy side effects. Things You'll Need
- 3 cups berries
- 1/2 cup agave nectar
- 3 tsp. lemon juice
- Large saucepan
- Nonstick, high-heat spatula
- Plastic container or glass jar

Place berries and agave nectar in the large saucepan.

Stir together and cook over medium heat until the mixture begin to simmer rapidly (just before boiling.)

Reduce heat to low and simmer the mixture until it thickens and berries begin to fall apart, about 45 minutes. Stir occasionally while simmering.

Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice. The jam will thickens as it cools.

When the jam has completely cooled, transfer it to the plastic container or glass jar.

You may also substitute peaches or another fruit for this recipes.
This quick jam does not need to be preserved by means of traditional canning. It can be kept in the refrigerator and should be used within two weeks.
