How to Watch Satellite TV on a Laptop
Satellite TV doesn't have to be limited to the television. You can now purchase an external USB satellite receiver that will allow you to run satellite television through any device with a USB port. With some quick installation procedures, you can be watching satellite TV through your laptop in minutes.
Things You'll Need
- External USB satellite receiver
- DVB-S cable
- Satellite system with DiSEqC switchbox

Connect the external USB satellite receiver to your laptop with the USB plug. Load the program software onto your laptop from the CD that came with your external USB satellite receiver.

Restart your laptop to ensure that the installation changes take effect.

Connect your external USB satellite receiver to your satellite system with the DVB-S cable. One cable end will be attached to the appropriate plug on the USB satellite receiver, while the other end will plug into the DiSEqC switchbox in your satellite system. If a DVB-S cable was not provided with the external USB satellite receiver, you can purchase one from an electronics retailer.

From your laptop, launch the software program you installed in Step 1. Your laptop should begin streaming television received through your satellite system.

Tips & Warnings
Contact your satellite television provider and ask about compatible USB satellite receivers for use with your laptop. Some satellite signals include proprietary encryption codes that cannot be decoded by third-party receivers.
