1
Move the wheel and tine control lever to the neutral position. Manipulate the depth regulator lever to the "travel" position and watch that tines do not touch the soil. Maneuver the wheel speed lever to "slow" and disengage the tines/clutch lever. Turn the engine switch to "On" and twist the key to "Start." Hold the key in the starting position for up to 15 seconds until the tiller motor activates.

2
Place the throttle to "slow" and move the choke lever to "run." Throttle speed can be adjusted while tilling to "fast" to speed up the process.

3
Engage the tine lever and initiate tines by squeezing the "forward interlock" lever on the hand grip. Move the wheels/tines lever forward and allow the tiller to advance through the soil at its own pace. Keep a strong grip on the tiller's left handlebar while walking beside the tiller. Turn the tiller by applying pressure on the handlebars in the direction of your turn.

4
Reverse your tiller by putting the tine/wheels lever in neutral and put the wheel speed lever in slow. Disengage the tines/clutch lever. Look over your shoulder to be sure there is nothing you might trip over while the tiller moves in reverse. Don't activate the tines while moving backwards to avoid the risk of serious injury.
-
5
Stop the tiller by placing the wheel/tines lever in neutral and turning off tiller if your work is finished.
